Comprehensive refurbishment of an existing mid-terrace property in the centre of Warwick, part of a larger development.

PROJECT
Grade II Listed Property, Warwick
PROJECT TYPE
Residential / Listed Building / Conservation Area
CLIENT
Private Developer
ROLE
Joint Lead Architect

This development is Warwick was incredibly unique, a larger development of 18 dwellings including an entire street of Grade II listed townhouses on Northgate Street.

This mid terrace property (one of eleven in the row) previously formed part of the council offices and required detailed restoration works both internally and externally, including a two storey extension to the rear. The property originally formed a link between the historic townhouses and the modern 1930s office block to the rear (demolished as part of the work). As part of the overall masterplan for the site, a large garden was reinstated to the rear along with additional access and off-street private parking. Internally the existing panelling and the staircase were carefully repaired and restored, as were other key features such as windows, doors and fireplaces.

THE RESULT

“The finest 18th century street in the Midlands”

Alec Clifton-Taylor OBE, Six More English Towns

Detailed collaboration between Developer, Contractor and Architect resulted in a sensitive and respectful scheme which not only met the approval of the Conservation Officer and Historic England but also the developers detailed brief. A stunning extended and restored property finished to a high standard.
