Examples of current barn conversion projects.

A barn conversion is where an existing barn is converted to create a residential dwelling, office, holiday home, etc. Unlike new build projects you are starting with an existing structure meaning the core elements of the design are often already in place. Utilising the existing outer walls and roof the design path then leads to creating flexible and cosy spaces filed with natural light.

Barn conversions take many shapes and sizes. They’re often viewed as a unique and simpler route to a new home in the countryside. Approvals an be achieved via a full planning application or via permitted development, known as Class Q.
